there it goes....well, i've been here and poking around in the backlogs of things...my inspirations run high, but my energy low. I don't manage to get much done these days, aside from work. I wish i could say i was doing fabulous and turning it all around, but... that's not the way it goes.
So...with this, i will sadly be saying goodbye to my premium membership for a while. I went on a binge of donating points and memberships and didn't even realize i had my own membership expiring.
Maybe i'll learn how much i loved it while i don't have it, and i'll be more grateful for having it once i can again.
anyway....i'll be poking around a lot more... silently watching from the dark corners. Keep it gruesome out there!
Can You Spare Some Points?Hey guys..
i've recently taken over at the :iconda-morgue: and have just discovered that we lost our super group status.
I had no idea we were that close to losing it.
AND..of course, it comes at a time when i have barely any points to put towards the 4000+ points needed to get our membership back.
If you have a few points...doesn't matter how small....would you consider donating it?? i will have a large journal feature done showcasing all of the donors that put forth points.
Thank you so much, even for just reading and considering donating.

LAST DAY.Today is July 1. which means ALL entries for my little contest ( http://jaded-ink.deviantart.com/journal/EXTENDED-I-m-giving-away-900-POINTS-373339827 )are due in today by midnight.
thank you to everyone who entered. I appreciate the time you took to create something for me.
later this week, i'm going to feature all the entries, and next week i will announce the winners. All of you did a wonderful job, and i couldn't have asked for anything more than this. You really helped raise my spirits.
EXTENDED!!!!! I'm giving away 900 POINTS!I've got some new stock up...well, newish.
i want to see something awesome. i'm depressed and tired of the world, so i want to make a happy spot for someone.
there are 900 points up for grab.
tell you what you have to do? sure. take my stock. do something with it. send me a link in my notes.
sound easy enough?
there will be 3 winners.... i hate that whole 1st, 2nd, and 3rd thing...so instead of one getting better than the other, here's the deal...points will be separated out equally between top 3 entries... the judging will be done by more than just myself, i'll update that as i go along. unless i get like 2 entries...and then, why bother at all? I'm leaving the contest open for an entire month, so entries are due in JUNE 23rd. that gives some of you procrastinators and perfectionists time to get stuff in to me. I will have all winners announced by july 1st. If I dont get volunteers to help judge, I might run a poll for popular vote.
EVERY ENTRY GETS A FEATURE, AND A LLAMA!
TOP 3 ENTR
wanna lend a hand?I've been invited to be a feature artist during our towns "art walk"....
how can you help? Go to my gallery and tell me which of my works you like best. I'm having a hard time deciding what to get prints of for my booth. I am thinking i'm going to have to play it low key, as my town is a little....reserved. help me narrow it down a little, and i will reward you for your efforts!
Also...did you guys catch the great deals from devArt gear? awesome camera bags for $25....and that cubist messenger bag is sooooo sweet.
Hope you all are well! Thanks in advance for any help you might give!
OMG!!!!!!!!!I HAVE AN IMAC!!!!!
yes, boys and girls, i haven't been able to create anything thanks to a lack of video card cable which died on me a few weeks ago.
but now...now i have an iMac.
and soon, photoshop.
fucking hell, i'm so excited!
My Sincerest Apologies.Happy fucking friday the 13th.
I just realized, i hadn't done a promised feature. not to mention, i've been seriously slack here as it is lately even though i'm trying like fucking crazy to keep up.
You all know i love you, right?
anyway... for the winners of the :icondarkart-challenges: contest, here is your long awaited feature. I am happy I got the prizes delivered, at least i didn't get all slack on that.
(bear with me, i refuse to feature myself, so here is 1st and 2nd place)
it was an awesome contest, with alot of great entries and prizes to be had. looking forward to the next big contest!!!!
and my apologies to all of you that sent me birthday wishes and that i didn't get to respond to,
Time To Kick It In The Ass.obviously i'm not getting any better at keeping a journal.
obviously, my updating here SUCKS.
however. Its time to change that.
its time to do something worthwhile.
I was looking on my harddrive and realized i had about 5 pieces i've not uploaded yet. i worked on them, and then left them by the side of the world just waiting for the day i would maybe do something with them.
so. i guess i'll upload them.
Also. i think i'll be spending more time at the :icondarkart-challenges: side trying to help max out. even though i feel almost entirely left shoe in a right foot world most days, i think i might be able to try to focus there. i need a moment of organization and someone to help keep me in line. the life i have leaves me in complete chaos almost always, and lately the only schedules i know is wake up, go to work, go home, go to bed...and repeat.
its time for a change.
so. there you have it. I'll be doing a feature next week, maybe tuesday.
and i'm doing a mini give away. get i
Creating your own MangaIntroduction
You have a great story, a bunch of characters and you want to create a manga. However, where do you start? Do you have it Left->Right or Right->Left? How should you publish it (*note: some publishers may have additional requirements/restrictions)?
The process is pretty much the same for any graphic progression such as comics.
Luckily, there are a great number of tutorials to help you on your way.
A storyboard is a panel or series of panels which detail the sequence of significant events in a planned scene, i.e. a rough sketch coupled with some words to describe the actions in the scene.
At this point you'd need to have an idea of whether you are making a left->right or right->left manga.

PE: How to Scan and Adjust ImagesTutorial Time: How to scan and adjust images on Photoshop!
Hello everyone, welcome to this tutorial article of PE week!
well, you know, there is this youtube channel where there's lots of videos regaring tips, tricks and general advice for artists, and it is the best I've seen of the kind. But sadly, it is only in portuguese - hence why cinyu came up with the great idea of getting me to translate one of their videos!
I decided to pick up this one regarding scanning and adjusting images on photoshop, because that is one of the most basic, yet worst parts for many traditional artists. This tutorial is mostly for scanning black and white works, so it'll be more useful if you're working on manga/comic pages or inked art, but I hope it'll give you some ideas and help out in general on how scanning works.
I'll be translating the most important parts of the video, along with screenshots. Let's get started!
Things you'll need:
When It's HardHi folks! I realized in my most recent round of blogs that I've been a little quick to tell you all to put on your grown up panties, but this one is going to be a little different. Making art can be one of the most exhilarating things you'll ever do, but (and this is from personal experience also) 80% of the time you're going to fail. You'll spill your ink all over that glorious drawing. Oil from your hands will permanently stain only the portion of paper that was meant to remain a snowy white. Your computer's hard drive will crash or all your image files (all the WIPs especially) will get corrupted. You'll try something new and it just won't work out the way you envisioned. These things are the parts that aren't really spoken about enough, and so when they happen to us we assume that we're doing something terribly wrong. I'm here to tell you that we all go through these things and there's always a solution!
When you're not improving
